The hotel wi-fi seems alright, despite only showing a couple of bars, so I’ll risk a post.

Glasgow Film Festival runs until the 26th. I had a good browse through the programme today (that is, when I wasn’t in a fugue of Virgintrain-half-sleep). Some interesting looking horror events, couple of sci-fi’s, a documentary about Glen Hansard and his writing partner from the film Once, about how the increase in fame from the Oscar proved too much for their personal relationship to sustain, and I might try to catch the festival closer too, entitled Le Havre. And a bunch of other stuff I circled. There’s also the Margins book and music festival (just saw the Friday night line-up, a bit interested), and something else that was rattling around my head.. can’t recall.
Saturday is also the last day to catch Harry Papadopoulos’ rock photography at Street Level Photoworks. His work is probably better approached as a cultural record rather than stand-out photography, but it’s worth a wander in, if only to see how many faces you recognise. Which, depending on how long you’ve hung around the gallery scene in Glasgow, is a game you can also play over at GOMA upstairs, where there is a sprawling collection of 15 years of Alan Dimmick’s photography of the local art scene.

Interesting piece in the Guardian. Artist Jon Rafman photo project “The Nine Eyes Of Google Street” shows the roving camera has a discerning eye in candid photography. Essentially it’s a micro-version of the infinite monkeys bashing away on typewriters idea, but here we have a kind of mobile panopticon, that by sheer weight of the number of images captured, is always likely to capture decisive moments. For sure, if we take resolution out of the argument, there are captures here that many a street or documentary photographer would love to have taken.

Now, prob finish off the hotel biscuits and find a movie.
